Good record keeping
It is wise to keep a folder of important documents, which is readily accessible in case you need to make an insurance claim.

First and foremost, if you are involved in an incident, theft or vandalism has occurred, you should always report to the police immediately.
Check your policy wording
It is best to check your insurance policy wording to check that you’re covered for whatever has happened. The policy wording may have specific procedures to follow; therefore it is best to read the policy wording before undertaking any remedial action. For example, some insurers may want you to use a company approved tradesperson, and may make the arrangements for you.
When submitting a claim request, having the following to hand will help the process along:
- Policy documents
- Police reference number
Correct and consistent details
Note down the facts and all details including:
- Time and date
- Details of everyone involved
- Exactly what happened
- What you’re claiming for
If possible, photos and videos of damaged vehicle or possessions may help with the claim.
Motor insurance claims
To make a claim on your car, van or motorcycle insurance policy, call the Computerquote Claims Line on 0800 328 5552, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
We take all details over the phone and immediately notify and complete all the necessary forms for your insurance company as well as directing you to your nearest approved repairer, recovery agent, windscreen provider or any other service required.
Calls may be recorded for security and training purposes.
Home insurance claims
To make a home insurance claim, please call the claims number in your policy documents. If you do not have these to hand, call Computerquote on 0800 328 5535.
If you have Computerquote Home Emergency cover, call 01904 238278, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, quoting reference SKRP150401/247/500, for policies incepted from 05.07.16**.
**Please note that the provider of Computerquote Home Emergency was changed with effect from 05.07.16 from ARAG to General Legal Protection Limited. If your policy started before 05.07.16 and expires before 05.07.17 (the cover dates will be the same as for your main home insurance policy) your cover will be with ARAG so please call 0800 954 0562 quoting ref 510871. The cover provided is identical and the claims line operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
