How does 'Legal Cover' work?

The service works in several ways but the first and most important thing is that the cover is purchased as an optional addition to a motor policy, at a time when you are making informed decisions, and so the cover is in place to work in conjunction with your motor insurance. This gives confidence and security. 

In the event of an accident a free phone number is available 24/7 and the helpline can assist with any accident that occurs to you or other authorised drivers of the vehicle in the UK or Europe. 

If the accident is deemed to be ‘fault’ on the part of the driver the call is then directed to the relevant insurer, who will then proceed to deal with the claim. 

If the claim is deemed ‘non-fault’ and full details of the third party are known the service swings into action – including, amongst other benefits, a hire vehicle, credit repairs (saving the necessity to pay any excess), injury or damage to personal effects claims and medical fees. The accident is then ‘managed’ through to conclusion, with support, guidance and assistance on all aspects of the claim being given by an experienced company. 

What is motor legal protection?

Anyone who has had a motor accident knows that it is a stressful and costly experience. Quite simply this cover will assist you if you are involved in a non-fault accident, where you have the third party details, to recover costs not covered by your own policy. For example, if your motor policy cover is comprehensive this could be your policy excess and if it is third party fire and theft, the cost of repairing your vehicle. For either level of cover claiming compensation for treatment for injuries is covered.
