Motorists in the future may not have to flick between using their dipped and main beam if automakers realise their vision, car insurance policyholders may be interested to learn.
Vehicle component firm Gentex is aiming to develop a new technology while allows drivers to keep their main beam on without it dazzling other road-users.
The company, which already makes auto-dipping lights for the BMW 7-series, is working on Dynamic Forward Lighting, which has sensors to monitor the road and decide when a vehicle is approaching from the opposite direction.
A computer system then activate tiny blades within the lamp unit to block out a section of the beam that would cause problems for other motorists, which could revolutionise driving for the car insurance policyholders of the future.
Meanwhile, Mercedes have unveiled a new external airbag that helps to slow down a vehicle in the event of a crash, which could be good news for motor insurance policyholders looking for a safer car.
