According to the MIB, around 6.5% of motorists are uninsured, despite 95% of people believing this be socially unacceptable. Research by Moneysupermarket.com backs up these findings, indicating a 33% rise in the number of people driving uninsured. Road Safety Minister, Paul Clark insists on "tough new measures" to bring down the number driving without insurance, such as £100 fine, extra points on your licence, and the risk of the car being taken away.
