Not all call outs as prosaic as broken fan belts or blown cylinder head gaskets. Equity Red Star describe some of the more bizarre reasons they have been called out:
- A car rendered immobile at a safari park in the UK when, in the heat of the moment, two mating giraffes fell onto the bonnet. Perhaps this is a new twist on being conceived in a car?
- A driver locked out of his vehicle - keys in the ignition, engine running - after his dog had activated the central locking.

- A couple concerned that their car was leaking coolant. The orange fluid dripping from beneath the dashboard proved to be orange juice dripping from the glove compartment.
- Faint squeaking noises coming from the rear that proved to be a mouse trapped in the boot.
- A man who's car had broken down at work - a secret government establishment. When asked his location, his reply was "Sorry, I can't divulge that."
