What does McLaren have up its sleeve for F1 2012?

02 Feb 2012

McLaren has lifted the cover of its 2012 Formula One (F1) car, so that motor insurance policyholders can glimpse a car which could lead the team to another world championship.

The Woking-based outfit sought the help of its drivers Jenson Button and Lewis Hamilton to unveil the MP4-27 vehicle.

Eagle-eyed fans of the F1 will notice that changes have been made to the car's nose and sidepods, when compared to last season's motor.

Furthermore, the nose has been placed lower than the 2011 McLaren car, in order to conform with new FIA regulations.

Hamilton has been particularly impressed by the new vehicle, commenting that he is now "massively motivated for next year".

The 2008 world champion added: "We have a good-looking car and generally when you have a good-looking car it is a good car too."

Hamilton also joked that the fact that the MP4-27 features more accessible mirrors will satisfy Ferrari rival Felipe Massa, since the pair had a series of collisions during the 2011 campaign.
