Rule-breaking car insurance customers targeted in crackdown
29 Jul 2010
Police in the West Midlands have announced a successful outcome for their recent crackdown on motor insurance policyholders flouting road rules in the area.
Dudley News reported that police in the town, near Birmingham, had worked in partnership with the Vehicle and Operator Services Agency (VOSA) to target law-breaking motorists on Hall Street.
During a six-hour operation, officers pulled over 36 vehicles, eight of which were seized for having no car insurance, while a further eight drivers were ordered to remove illegal window tints.
Sergeant Rich Narrowmore, who led the campaign, told the news provider: "This was one of a series of operations being conducted across the borough. It produced a significant result in the number of vehicles seized, which we hope sends out a clear message."
Earlier this week, a survey by Co-operative Insurance revealed that 53 per cent of motorists regularly eat at the wheel of their car, which may increase the risk of accidents in the UK, highlighting the importance of motor insurance.
