Male car insurance customers 'driven to distraction by beautiful women'
30 Jul 2010
New research has found that male motor insurance policyholders are ten times more likely to make a claim on their car insurance as a result of crashing their car when distracted by an attractive passer-by.
Motor insurance firm Sheila's Wheels revealed that 29 per cent of male drivers admitted to being distracted by good-looking women during the summer.
The survey also found that, in complete contrast, only three per cent of female motorists had found themselves ogling shirtless men in the warm weather.
It was also highlighted that male motor insurance policyholders made 16 per cent more car insurance claims than women drivers last summer.
Earlier this week, TV presenter Jeremy Clarkson brought up the issue on his BBC show Top Gear.
"We think the most dangerous time to drive a car is round about now. Sunny skies, light breezes, girls wearing short skirts
because the thing is, you can't not look. You can't physically not look," he said.
