Motor insurance customers told of stolen car recovery
08 Jul 2010
The need for motor insurance was highlighted this week when four vehicles were recovered in Buckinghamshire.
It came after two cars were taken from a home in Surrey, with one of them containing the Tracker stolen vehicle recovery technology.
One of the cars was recovered quickly, however, the BMW X3, which was fitted with the tracking device, was mapped to a location in Buckinghamshire where police were able to seize it.
The officers also found three other vehicles which had been stolen from Surrey, while two suspects were arrested.
Adrian Davenport, police liaison manager, south of England and Wales for Tracker, said: "This case highlights the danger of car key theft. The car owner was lucky this time, but we urge motorists to look after their car keys at all times, even at home. Don't leave them on display, such as a bowl or hook by the door."
It comes after the Daily Mail reported that an unfortunate Bentley driver has had the wheels of his car stolen three times in the last 16 months.
