Brokers are the best place to go for advice when it comes to motor insurance because they have the necessary professionalism and experience, according to an expert.
Steve Foulsham, technical services manager at the British Insurance Brokers' Association, says there is "no real substitute" for taking expert advice.
"They would always be best placed to arrange and provide the best deal for the particular circumstance," he insists.
Mr Foulsham adds that clarity is the key to getting the right motor insurance policy and suggests that some people have found problems with this when using comparison websites and have ended up with cover that is not quite right for their needs.
His comments follow research by Mintel which found that over three-quarters of Brits are shopping around before renewing their motor insurance policy.
The survey found that 45 per cent of drivers get up to three quotes before deciding which provider to take out cover with.
