Car insurance: Government launch new road safety campaign

13 Nov 2008

The government is launching a new campaign to warn children of the dangers of the roads, car insurance holders could be interested to learn.

Road safety minister Jim Fitzpatrick unveiled the new £1.5million THINK! Campaign yesterday (November 12th) to graphically spell out the dangers of not crossing the road safely and highlighting the importance of the green cross code.

"More than 9,000 children were killed or hurt on British roads last year. This tragically underlines why we must continue to teach our children how to safely use the road," Mr Fitzpatrick said.

He added that previous government approaches were effective in teaching youngsters about road safety but more sophisticated methods are needed due to kid's changing attitudes due to computer games and the internet.

The Inverness Courier reported this week that police are clamping down on car insurance holders speeding near Charleston Academy.

It noted that nine motorists have been charged since the crack-down began.
