Car insurance holders stopped for speeding
13 Nov 2008
Two car insurance holders were stopped for speeding offences along a police check area in Aldwick, it has been reported.
According to the Bognor Regis Observer, the pair were issued with speeding tickets and represented the minority of vehicles who passed through the speed-check zone along Aldwick Road during a morning peak driving time.
The report noted that police community support officer (PCSO) Gemma Turner and traffic officer PC Glen McArthur joined forces for the speed gun sitting following complaints that car insurance holders had been speeding in the area.
PCSO Turner told the newspaper: "Surprisingly, the speed of the majority travelling through did not exceed the speed limit. The few that did, found themselves with a £60 fine and three penalty points."
Meanwhile, the Highways Agency claimed this week that its latest research found that half of car insurance holders would travel despite hearing a severe weather warning.
The agency added that nearly one-third of these would also do so without carrying out a check on their vehicle.
